  • Corona Virus

    Fri 28 Feb 2020

    Dear Parents /Carers,

As a precautionary measure we would like to share with you the current NHS advice on the Corona Virus or COVID-19 illness.  However, this advice is being updated frequently and updates can be found using the following links:

    https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/

    https://publichealthmatters.blog.gov.uk/2020/01/23/wuhan-novel-coronavirus-what-you-need-to-know/

Advice updated as of 26th February 2020

What is the risk of catching coronavirus in the UK?

The UK Chief Medical Officers have raised the risk to the public from low to moderate. But the risk to individuals remains low.

    Symptoms of coronavirus

    The symptoms of coronavirus are:

    • a cough
    • a high temperature
    • shortness of breath

But these symptoms do not necessarily mean you have the illness.

The symptoms are similar to other illnesses that are much more common, such as cold and flu and most people can continue to go to work, school and other public places.

    NOTE:

You only need to stay away from public places if you have been advised by NHS 111 to do so, or you have developed symptoms and have been:

    • to Hubei province in China in the last 14 days
    • to Iran, areas of northern Italy in lockdown or "special care zone" areas in South Korea since 19 February
    • to other parts of mainland China or South Korea, Thailand, Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia or Macau in the last 14 days and have a cough, high temperature or shortness of breath
    • to other parts of northern Italy (anywhere north of Pisa, Florence and Rimini), Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos or Myanmar since 19 February and have a cough, high temperature or shortness of breath
    • in close contact with someone with confirmed coronavirus

    Lockdown areas in northern Italy

    • in Lombardy: Codogno, Castiglione d'Adda, Casalpusterlengo, Fombio, Maleo, Somaglia, Bertonico, Terranova dei Passerini, Castelgerundo and San Fiorano
    • in Veneto: Vo' Euganeo

Special care zones in South Korea

    • Daegu
    • Cheongdo

If this applies to you, do not go to a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital. Call 111, stay indoors and avoid close contact with other people.

If you are unwell and are concerned, current advice for anyone who is showing signs of shortness of breath, coughing or fever is to call NHS 111.

The risk is still relatively low for individuals but we wanted to share this information with you so that we can all remain vigilant.

If you are concerned and need to speak to the school about this issue, please contact us in the usual way.

    With kind regards

    Mrs E Duffell

  • Show Box Collection 2019

    Wed 20 Nov 2019

A big thank you to all the families who have taken part in our annual show box appeal for families in Eastern Europe. No doubt the children have shared with you the journey of our boxes last year and the photos that we saw of this in an assembly recently and the difference it makes at this time of year to some extremely poor families.

This year we have sent an outstanding 63 boxes - thank you very much for your support with this project.

  • Harvest Festival & Food Bank Donations

    Thu 17 Oct 2019

Thank you to all the parents and carers who supported our Harvest Festival by attending the church service at St. Peter's church and also donated tinned and packet food for the local Food Bank.

It was lovely to see such a large number of parents accompanying the children as they walked to and from the church.

We hope you enjoyed the service.

A representative from Newark Food Bank collected the donations along with Mrs Jessica Colson, Church Warden and School Governor. Year 4 helped with carrying the donations to their cars.

We are proud to announce that we have received the Silver Quality Mark from the Youth Sport trust for 2018-2020.

This has been awarded following a review of our participation in local sporting events and the sessions and varied options of sport taught and experienced in school.

We would like to thank all parents and carers who have supported us with this achievement by taking their children to and from events. As a small school we would not be able to do this without you. Thank you!

  • Race For Life 2019

    Race for Life 2019—Clumber Park

On Sunday 30th June a team of St. Peter’s staff and parents took part in the Race for Life at Clumber Park.  The sun shone and the atmosphere was electric.  We all finished the 5k in the gruelling heat and celebrated afterwards with a picnic!

The current total for sponsorship stands at £1417.50 with a further £302.50 Gift Aid giving us a staggering total of £1720.00!  Thank you to all those that sponsored us and for the supporters that came to cheer us on.

    Well done everyone!

  • Village Fun Run Summer 2019

    Fri 05 Jul 2019

    Village Fun Run

What a wonderful turn out we had for the Fun Run this year!  All children that took part received a medal when they crossed the finish line, and a few older children kept running to see just how many laps they could do.  The cricket club opened it’s doors once again for refreshments and the burgers offered from the bar-b-cue were fantastic - we cannot thank them enough.  Also the whole school thanked Mr Davis in celebration assembly this morning for organising the event.

  • Father's Day Breakfasts

    Thu 13 Jun 2019

On Monday 10th and Tuesday 11th June we celebrated Fathers Day by inviting dads in for breakfast. Bacon and sausage cobs were served by our catering team along with tea and coffee. Very welcome as the weather was a washout!

  • Well done Hockey Team

    Fri 03 May 2019 C. Spence
Well done and thank you to our super hockey team. We have had a great season and developed so well as a team. You gave it your all during the final Sam White Tournament and we saw some attacking, defending and passing that shows great promise for next season. We say good bye to Sam and Niamh and hope that your love for team sports continues for many years to come!
  • Year 3 and Year 4 Football Tournament

    Thu 02 May 2019

On 2nd May 2019 our Year 3 and Year 4 football team travelled to William Gladstone Primary Academy to take part in the Newark & District Primary Sports Association annual tournament.

We had a tough group but played some of the most attractive passing football of the afternoon. We would like to say thank you to Mr Rhodes-Yeomans for bringing this style of play to our school football teams.

Unfortunately results in the main did not go our way and we did not reach the final stages of the competition but we finished on a high - beating Lowes Wong, the eventual winners, 1-0.

Thank you to all the players who displayed determination and stamina playing through some awful weather, parents for supporting from under their umbrellas and Mr Rhodes-Yeomans for the tactics and coaching.

We have some great young footballers (girls and boys) and are looking forward to them progressing into the year 5 and year 6 teams over the next couple of years.

  • Silly Sock Day Friday 5th April 2019

    Mon 15 Apr 2019

A big thank you to everyone who joined in with our fundraising activity to raise funds and awareness for Autism East Midlands. The idea was the brain child of parent Mrs Charlotte Sutton who is raising money throughout the year for the charity. The charity seeks to  ensure autistic people can live their lives with dignity, choice and independence and was originally set up by a group of parents with autistic children.

Even though we had two year groups on their annual residential, we still raised £110 for the charity. Thank you to all parents and carers for helping with finding socks and sending in a donation.
